Biography
Allan attended The University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he served as an Articles Editor of the Journal of International Economic Law. Upon graduating in 1998, he joined the litigation department of the renowned law firm Kaye Scholer, LLP. Allan then joined Greenberg Traurig, LLP in 2005 where he was a litigation partner for the next 18 years. In 2019, Allan filed for divorce, a divorce widely regarded as one of the most complex and challenging in the history of Westchester County. Despite being a partner at a major law firm, Allan was awarded sole custody of his three young daughters in 2020, while his wife was limited to supervised visitation with the children.

Beyond the typical issues one encounters in a matrimonial action, Allan faced the following additional challenges in his divorce. Allan’s wife suffered from severe mental illness and/or a personality disorder and, as a result, was intent on destroying him – personally, professionally and financially. For example, throughout the pendency of their divorce, Ms. Kassenoff posted vicious lies about Allan on her public Facebook account while also harassing his law firm. (“Weaponizing Social Media”) After the trial court entered an order precluding her from “criticizing, denigrating or disparaging [Allan] on any form of social media” and from contacting his employer, Ms. Kassenoff filed an appeal. Although appellate courts routinely reverse such orders in light of the First Amendment, Allan argued that Ms. Kassenoff’s actions were detrimental to the children as well as his ability to financially provide for them. In February 2023, the appellate court issued a groundbreaking decision, concluding that the trial court’s order was appropriate as it was in the best interest of the children. Kassenoff v. Kassenoff, 213 A.D.3d 822 (2d Dep’t 2023).
Even worse, in May 2023, Ms. Kassenoff posted on Facebook that she was travelling to Switzerland to commit suicide and blamed Allan – and the matrimonial court – for her decision. Various social media influencers repeated Ms. Kassenoff’s lies (and added their own), leading Allan to file a defamation lawsuit in the Northern District of Florida. Allan Kassenoff et al v. Robert Harvey, Civ. Action No. 3:23-cv-24085-TKW-ZCB (N.D. Fla.). The case was amicably settled on confidential terms.
Much of Allan’s story has been recounted in a July 6, 2024 article in The Free Press, entitled “A Wife’s Revenge from Beyond the Grave.”

Due to the unique challenges he faced throughout his divorce, Allan decided to found Kassenoff Law, PC so that he could help others dealing with the challenges of a contentious and hostile spouse in a divorce or custody proceeding. Allan uses his litigation expertise as well as his deep understanding of New York family law in order to prevent such escalations and, equally important, to minimize the financial impact on his clients to obtaining a divorce. ("Tips for a Speedy Divorce"). In short, with a focus on compassion and expertise, Allan strives to guide his clients through the complexities of divorce, child custody, and related legal matters. Although most divorces should be settled amicably, when that proves impossible, Allan brings 25 years of litigation experience to the table.
